iCAGE 2016 :International Conference on Applied Geology & Environment

Guest of Honor

It is with great pleasure to announce that Professor Dr. Abdullah M. Alamri the Editor-in-Chief of Arabian Journal of Geosciences (AJGS) will be our Guest of Honor.
ATGA will held a ceremony alongside the conference to honor Professor Alamri for his unparalleled contribution and support to the field of Geosciences in the Arab World. The event will be also an opportunity to celebrate a decade of success for the AJGS.

Prof. Dr. Abdullah M. ALAMRI

Dr. Abdullah M. Alamri is a professor of earthquake seismology at King Saud University (KSU; Saudi Arabia). He is also the chairman of KSU’s Geology & Geophysics Department and is director of the Seismic Studies Center at KSU. He is the president of the Saudi Society for Geosciences and is editor-in-chief of the Arabian Journal of Geosciences (AJGS).
Dr. Alamri's research interests are in the area of crustal structures and seismic microzoning of the Arabian Peninsula. His recent projects also involve applications of EM and MT in deep groundwater exploration of Empty Quarter and geothermal prospecting of volcanic Harrats in the Arabian shield.
He has published more than 65 research papers, conducted more than 45 research projects and has authored several books and technical reports. He is a principal and co-investigator for several national and international projects (KSU, KACST, NPST, IRIS, CTBTO, the U.S. Air Force, NSF, UCSD, LLNL, OSU, PSU and Max Planck). He has also chaired and co-chaired several SSG, GSF and RELEMR workshops and forums in the Middle East. He has received several worldwide prizes and awards for his scientific excellence and innovation.
He holds a B.S. in geology (1981) from King Saud University, a master’s degree (1985) in applied geophysics from the University of South Florida, Tampa (U.S.) and a Ph.D. (1990) in earthquake seismology from University of Minnesota (U.S.).

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr. Nabil KHELIFI

"How to get published in a scientific journal: Tips from a Springer Nature Editor"
Writing research papers for academic journals is not easy and also very competitive. After producing data and generating ideas from your research, how do you write a clear and concise paper that attracts the attention of journal editors? How should you prepare a cover letter? How should you respond to reviewer report? A publishing editor from
Springer Nature in Heidelberg, Germany shares his advice during two hours on how to effectively write and structure your paper, prepare a cover page and answer to reviewer comments.

Dr. Nabil Khélifi is a former researcher at GEOMAR Ocean Research Center Kiel in Germany and currently a Publishing Editor responsible for Springer’s Publishing Program in the Middle East and North Africa.

Dr. Tarek ABICHOU

"Modern Geotechnics "
Dr. Tarek ABICHOU expertise falls broadly in the discipline referred to as geo-environmental engineering. In most cases, the overall objectives of this emerging field are protecting soil and ground water. His research includes fundamental laboratory studies, development of computer models, and practical field demonstration of new technologies. In many cases, his research findings have been validated at full-scale in operating facilities in collaboration with industry and government agencies. He is known for his research investigating the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from landfills using bio-oxidation of methane. He recently completed the development of a gas generation model to inventory fugitive gas emission from landfills. Currently, He is involved in field studies to monitor the performance of bioreactor landfill cells, in terms of gas generation, liquid balance, leachate quality, and biogas generation. His research has many practical applications. He has been involved in academic research investigating alternative ways to design, monitor, and construct solid waste facilities for more than 15 years.
